The measurement chain

The order is enforced by the software: a step cannot begin until the earlier records exist and verify.

Table 2. The measurement chain. Each row produces a sealed record.
StepWhat is recorded
1 · Prediction frozenQuantity, extraction method, comparison rule and threshold, and the environmental envelope of validity.
2 · Instruments declaredMake, model, serial number, unit and role of every channel; time-compared channels share one sample clock.
3 · Calibrations boundMeasured, sealed, unexpired calibration records matching serial numbers, gain settings and inputs. Typed values are refused.
4 · Environment recordedTemperature, humidity and pressure against the envelope. Outside it the result is inconclusive; the prediction is never adjusted.
5 · Intent frozenEverything above, bound into one sealed intent before a single byte of measurement exists.
6 · Captured with custodyThe original recording, exactly as received, identified by its hash. Resampling audio paths and dropped samples are refused.
7 · VerifiedHashes, identities and the order of events recomputed from the stored files.
8 · ComparedThe frozen extraction applied to measured and simulated signals alike; the frozen rule gives the verdict; the receipt is re-verified.
